Joan Cockin is a pen name that was used by Edith Joan Burbridge. She was born in 1919 and would go on to become a Foreign Office Spokesman. Joan did not write many books in her time. The first two books that she released were Curiosity Killed the Cat and Villainy at Vespers. These two would be followed by another mystery, Deadly Earnest. She was a British diplomat and belonged to the U.K. delegation at its first NATO and Council of Europe conference. She also enjoyed a second career as a consumer champion, managing to co-found the National and the Scottish Consumer Councils, acting as a Legal Ombudsman for Scotland, founding an Insurance Ombudsman Bureau and taking part in serving on a Royal Commission.
